What care can I expect at VHP Center of Hope?
Staffed by board-certified psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, psychiatric nurses, licensed social workers and other clinicians, our program offers comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, individual, family and group therapy, and medication management.
What can I expect during therapy with VHP Integrated Behavioral Health?
Sessions typically involve discussing your concerns, exploring your thoughts and feelings, setting goals and learning coping strategies. The specific approach may vary depending on your needs, and your therapist.
What is an LCSW and an LPC?
LCSW stands for licensed clinical social worker, and LPC stands for licensed professional counselor. Both are mental health professionals trained and licensed to provide therapy and support for individuals dealing with behavioral health issues.
What is a Psychiatrist?
A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who specializes in mental health. They can diagnose and treat mental, emotional, and behavioral conditions. They can also prescribe medications.
How long does therapy with an LCSW or an LPC typically last?
Everyone is unique, so the duration of therapy varies depending on factors such as the severity of the issues being addressed, your goals and the therapist’s approach. Your therapist will review progress toward goals in each therapy session, and after three months determine, with you, if continued treatment is warranted.
Do social workers and therapists prescribe medication?
No, LCSWs and LPCs are not medical doctors and therefore cannot prescribe medication. However, our team works collaboratively with health care clinicians at your VHP site who can prescribe medication if needed.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes, therapy sessions are confidential, meaning that what you discuss in therapy is generally not shared with others without your permission, except in certain specific circumstances outlined by law (such as if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others).
