Reach Out and Read Program

Encourage your child’s love of reading

Your child receives a new book through the Reach Out and Read program when visiting our health centers. Ask your child’s doctor for more information.

Reach Out and Read is a physician-led literacy program that promotes early reading in children up to age 5. Children who visit participating practices will receive an age-appropriate book from their clinical provider at their annual well-child visit.

Why read to your child?

Reading out loud to children promotes social and emotional well-being, strengthens family bonding and reinforces positive early childhood experiences. The simple act of reading aloud together can help create a lasting bond and lays the groundwork for a lifelong love of reading and learning. It also helps children improve their language and listening skills, which can lead to success in the classroom.
