About Mary Stock

Philosophy of care

I believe that most health troubles can be decreased or solved with a few interventions. Health is optimized when people eat well, are physically active on most days, sleep well, and engage in a community of friends and loved ones. When health is optimized, people can still get sick, injured and die, but they will be better supported through human processes. A good family doctor helps patients optimize their health and is there with them through life and health changes, working to change what we can and accept what we cannot change with dignity.

Why I entered medicine

I always thought I would grow up to be a scientist or some kind of teacher. I tried working in a lab in college, and I found that it lacked human contact. In medicine, I found the perfect union of science, human contact and teaching, as I work to help each person better understand their bodies and improve their overall feelings of health and well-being.

Community involvement

I am a religious education instructor with the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Lehigh Valley.

Personal interests

I enjoy gardening, reading and going to as many outdoor festivals and carnivals as possible during the summer.
