About Courtney Boyle

Philosophy of care

I grew up in a small Pennsylvania coal region town where everyone knew each other. I also come from a big family. My mom is one of 10 siblings with 6 sisters, and my dad was one of 4 children. We grew up in a lovely house that my parents built. We didn't have a lot of money but my parents truly put their hearts into raising our family. They worked very hard and made sacrifices, so that they could provide for us. We always knew we were loved and cared for. How does this relate to being a physician? It means I've grown up seeing love and hard work. I care for my patients as I'd want my family members to be treated. I believe it's important to listen to your patients. I want to know who they are outside of lab studies and test results. I try to avoid asking general questions but instead I ask deeper questions to understand where my patients are coming from and what their lives are really like. I've also suffered loss in my life. I lost my dad when I was young and we lost our first baby at 14 weeks. I truly believe these two tragic events have made me a better doctor. I can relate. Patients and staff often comment to me that ,"Dr. Boyle, you're really just like us." This is my goal: for people to feel comfortable coming to me about anything even if it's just for a hug and for someone to listen. I want my patients to know that they should never feel judged or scared.

Why I entered medicine

Coming from a very large family, I have seen our share of illness and disease. When I was young I thought I would become a teacher. But as I grew up I realized that I could do a great deal to help women in need by becoming a physician.

Personal interests

I love spending time with my family. I have two kids and they are my whole world. Family is very important to me and I spend as much time as possible with my extended family. I am a runner. I also love crafting and have tried most craft activities.
