Valley Health Partners (VHP) Nutrition Counseling helps people eat a healthier diet for weight management or follow a special diet prescribed by a health care provider for a chronic health condition.
Keeping your health in mind when preparing meals or selecting snacks is especially important during pregnancy, when cooking meals for your children, or when managing certain chronic health conditions like diabetes. A health care provider will refer people who need help choosing healthier foods.
A registered dietitian, who offers nutrition assessment and education, and an advanced practice clinician, who offers prediabetes and diabetes education, are among the available professionals. There’s help for people who need to manage their weight.
Also, in conjunction with a person’s primary health care provider, registered nurses and certified diabetes educators offer intensive diabetes management.
VHP Nutrition Counseling respects the community’s culture, and healthy ethnic diet choices are encouraged. Classes are in English and Spanish.
For people who need help buying food, VHP Nutrition Counseling guides people to the VHP services where they can get help applying for government food assistance programs.
